Livestream Sing-along Art Song Party #2!

Join me on YouTube on Saturday, February 13.

This event has been postponed. More info on that soon!

After the success of the first Livestream Sing-along Art Song Party in January, in which we explored songs of Pauline Viardot as a way to celebrate her centenary, it’s time for LS-AASP #2!

This time, we’ll discover some German Lieder composed by Scandinavian composers: Laura Netzel (1839-1927) & Ika Peyron (1845-1922) of Sweden, Ida Henriette da Fonseca (1802-1858) & Hilda Sehested (1858-1936) of Denmark, and Agathe Backer Grøndahl (1847-1907) of Norway. If you’ve always wanted to incorporate more Scandinavian repertoire (composed by women!) into your life, but aren’t quite ready to sing in Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish, here you go!

The 11 songs we will explore at this free livestreamed event include texts by major German poets; some of these texts may be known to you in other more famous settings. Here below are links to the scores on imslp, free for you to download:

Laura Netzel (Lied & Gruß)

Ika Peyron (Ich spräche & Das erste Lied)

Agathe Backer Grøndahl (Juniabend, Opus 10 #4), (Lied des Mädchens & Unruhe, Opus 14 #3 & 5)

Ida Henriette da Fonseca (Einsamkeit), (Die spröde Schäferin)

The Sehested songs have recently been removed from imslp, so please contact me & I will send you pdfs. Alternatively, below are images of the songs (Es singen… and Allerseelen).
